Greetings from Sister Carol
June
11,
2008
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have come to the last full week of school for this academic
year. I cannot believe how quickly the time has flown by, but
much has been accomplished during that time. Thank God! It was
evident from those of you who attended the very important
meeting last evening that a most exciting challenge lies before
us beginning this summer: we are able to create the model
Catholic school that we see possible for the youth of Parsippany
and the surrounding areas. What a momentous opportunity! Our
Home School Officers and I will be meeting Monday evening to
review the Volunteer Contracts and incorporate as many of your
suggestions as possible into next year’s contract.
This summer, the three pastors and the principals of St.
Christopher’s and Saint Peter the Apostle Schools will formulate
a Steering Committee which will begin the process of designing
our “new school.” We use the expression “new” because we have
this unique opportunity of setting the groundwork for a school
model that will meet the needs of the twenty-first century. What
is your vision and are you willing to assist in making these
dreams become a reality? It will be possible only with the
creative insights and positive support of each and everyone who
truly want the best for the children attending this school.
Today our preschoolers will be participating in their “Moving
–Up” Ceremonies. We thank their teachers: Mrs. Russo-Tiesi, Mrs.
McAndrew, Mrs. Radha, and Mrs. Kharbanda. It saddens me to
inform you that Mrs. Radha will not be returning to us next
year. She is going back to live in India. We thank her most
especially for her service to our school and the preschool
children. Best wishes and God bless you, Mrs. Radha, in your
new endeavors.
Tomorrow our “Kindergarten Graduation” will take place. We
thank their teacher, Mrs. Stanziale, for the wonderful job she
has done with these children. They are most certainly ready for
Grade One.
Friday we will send off our 8th graders as they
graduate from Saint Peter’s and move on to high school. The
Graduation Mass will be held at 10:00 AM and the Graduation
Ceremony at 6:30 PM. All are most welcome to attend to share in
this celebration. We are proud of our students and wish them
Godspeed as they venture on to high school.
Tomorrow will be a dress down day for students in grades 1-7.
They may wear comfortable, appropriate clothing that they can
relax in. Friday ALL students should be in their summer dress
uniforms because we will be attending the Graduation Mass.
Reminder: Monday and Tuesday are 11:45 AM dismissal days. ECHO
is in session.
Have a wonderful and restful summer
Very truly yours,
Sister
Carol Melsopp, pbvm

Celebrating our 50th
Year
When Saint Peter the Apostle
School opened its doors on September 4, 2007, it
began the fiftieth year of providing Catholic education to the
children of Parsippany. Throughout those fifty years, the
school has been supported by the priests, parishioners, parents,
religious and lay faculty and generous alumni and benefactors
who recognized the importance of providing a sound Catholic
education in a beautiful and well-equipped facility. Over the
years, the school has developed many fine leaders in government,
academia, business and vocations to the priesthood and religious
life. The leadership of the school has been under the tutelage
of the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell and most recently, the
Presentation Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Principal of the Middle
States accredited school is Sister Carol Melsopp, pbvm, who is
beginning her second year at Saint Peter the Apostle School.
Sister brings a wealth of experience in Catholic School
Education and Administration. She is committed to fostering a
faith-filled, supportive, and academically challenging
environment for the children and faculty.
Sister Carol is welcoming new
faculty appointments to her staff. These include Joan Millard,
a veteran middle school teacher, who will be teaching language
arts to the sixth through eighth grade students; Joanne Ebel, an
experienced middle school teacher, will be teaching science and
math to the sixth through eighth grade students. The second
grade will be under the leadership of Katryna Kucyna who brings
a love of reading to young children and will provide a creative
impact on the primary grades. Christopher Henry will be
teaching physical education to our students. Chris’ experience
will lend itself to providing a new dimension to the physical
education/sports program. Christopher Stefanski will provide
computer education to all the students. Chris comes to us from
the banking industry where he was involved in management of
computer technology. Isabel Outumuro will be teaching Spanish
to the students including those in pre-school.
All of the state-certified
faculty members are working along with Sister Carol to create a
faith-filled environment where Christian values and education
meet. The Core Curriculum Standards set forth by the State of
New Jersey are incorporated into the daily instruction of every
teacher.
A Talented and Gifted program is
offered to selected students in grades 3-5, based on the
students Cognitive Abilities Testing and Terra Nova results. In
addition to the fundamental academics prescribed by the Diocese
of Paterson, Saint Peter the Apostle School offers a diversity
of opportunities to expand their creativity and enrich their
life experiences.
Selections offered to the
students include public speaking, digital photography and
publishing, home economics, advanced opportunities in math,
science, and Creative Writing, and a creative arts program
consisting of art, music, and drama.
A PreK-3 and 4 programs are also
offered. Full day or half-day schedules are available. This
program incorporates music, Spanish, computers, and physical
education, which supplements their core curriculum.
Before-school supervision is
available beginning at 6:45 AM. The after-school program, ECHO,
is offered until 6:00 PM. During this time, homework
assistance, sports and play activities are provided. Busing
service is made available by the Township of Parsippany-Troy
Hills for eligible students.
Saint Peter’s offers reasonably
priced tuition, and financial assistance is obtainable where
appropriate.
Please call 973-334-4704 to make
an appointment to tour the beautiful facility and to meet our
staff.
